HELENA FLAT WATER PADDLE GROUP
WEEKLY UPDATE
Hi Paddlers,
We are ready to start our regular Tuesday evening paddling for 2013. Our flatwater paddling group - kayakers and a few canoers - gets together for a couple hours on Tuesday evenings to paddle on various open bodies of water in the Helena area. This is an informal weekly activity that has been going on for at least 6 summers. Each week anywhere from 1 to over 20 boats show up at a designated place and we paddle for a few hours.

On Tuesday, May 21, we will meet at the Helena Valley Reservoir. We will be on the water at 6:15.
(The Reservoir is on York Road at the top of the hill after you pass Fox Ridge Golf Course and Lake Helena Drive.)

INFORMATION ABOUT THE GROUP
Paddlers need to have their own boat, paddle, safety equipment, etc, wear a life jacket, and be responsible for themselves. They should also be comfortable on open water and in dealing with weather changes, wind, rain, cold, and choppy water. The entire group does not necessarily paddle together (it is not a guided tour!), but we encourage people to stay together for safety reasons. A few places we paddle may be more difficult for beginners or for kayaks that are shorter than 10 or 11 feet, especially if it is windy, but we welcome anyone who is up for paddling in whatever conditions we might find that evening. If you have any questions about a particular location, please feel free to ask me.
At the end of each evening we decide where to meet the following week and I have volunteered to email notifications about the meeting spot. We welcome anyone who is interested in paddling.
Hope to see you on the water this summer,
~Susan
